COGNITIVE-BEHAVIORAL THERAPY
Ethan’s approach to psychotherapy is rooted in CBT, while drawing on a variety of therapeutic modalities. CBT begins with building one’s awareness of how thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected. By learning coping strategies and practicing skills, maladaptive patterns are altered, and positive patterns are enhanced.

PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENTS
Academic difficulties can stem from several sources. By comprehensively assessing academic achievement, cognitive abilities, executive functions, and social-emotional adjustment, Ethan is able to provide an integrated report to families. In addition to possible diagnoses, Ethan focuses on practical recommendations that can enhance an individual’s functioning in school, at home, and with friends. He is able to assist in communicating these findings in a clear and compassionate way in school team meetings. Literacy skills are essential for overall academic success, and evaluating progress or current levels of performance can illuminate a clear path forward for instruction and support. Christina can join the assessment process to provide in-depth quantitative and quality reading and writing evaluation.

LITERACY INSTRUCTION
Literacy skills can be strengthened at any age, and they are essential for overall academic success. As a child progresses in school, weaknesses in reading may reveal themselves as challenges with reading comprehension, spelling, writing and overall engagement in school. Christina works with all ages, but she specializes in working with older students to ensure that they have a strong foundation in literacy through a practical, straightforward approach. Whether skills need to be developed in phonological awareness, understanding the code of English, abstract reading comprehension or vocabulary strategies for academic subjects, Christina utilizes a diverse array of resources and strategies in an engaging and fast-paced environment.

EXECUTIVE FUNCTION COACHING
Executive function skills are a set of mental processes that help individuals manage, plan, organize, and regulate their behavior in order to achieve goals. These skills are crucial for success in various aspects of life, including academics, work, and daily activities. Executive function coaching is different from tutoring because the process is as important as, if not more than, the actual work. For middle and high school-age students, understanding WHY they must develop systems and strategies is crucial. Taking the time to break down large tasks, develop metacognitive skills, and make small shifts in habits can make a huge difference. Christina offers empowering, productive coaching sessions that foster independence and encourage success.
